How SDU Students Survive The first time the light came on that semester, the entire Daddy’s Hostel vibrated. It was 6:07 p.m. on a Thursday. Someone screamed “Up NEPA!” from the ground floor and within seconds every room door flew open like the rapture had finally chosen Ozoro. Phones that had been lying face-down like dead cockroaches suddenly lit up with green charging symbols. Power banks were abandoned mid-prayer. The corridor turned into a marathon. That night we had exactly six hours. Everybody knew the timetable by heart now: light comes around 6 p.m., disappears by midnight, sometimes 11:45 if the gods were angry. Six hours. That’s all Southern Delta University off-campus students get, and we have turned it into an extreme sport. Rule #1: Prioritise like your life depends on it (because your GPA does).
